Roger Andersen

Dr. Roger C. Andersen has been a senior higher education executive for more than 40 years including serving as a college president for more than 25 years. Holds a doctorate in higher education administration (Ed. D) from West Virginia University, a Master’s of Science in Mathematics from Purdue University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Drew University. Also holds a postdoctoral certificate from the Carnegie Mellon University College Management Program. Dr. Andersen presently serves as the Sacramento/Capitol Region Program & Recruitment Director for the EnCorps STEM Teachers Program, a dynamic, non-profit organization that recruits and transitions science, technology, engineering, and mathematics business and industry professionals into a new careers as full-time teachers to serve students in high-needs middle and high schools.

Laura Saret

Laura Saret is Professor of Business Emerita at Oakton Community College, where she taught general business, management, and computer technologies as a full time faculty member from 1981-2011. At Oakton, she has held the position of Faculty Coordinator for the Teaching and Learning Center, which she co-created, and was a Department Chairperson for Computer Technologies and Information Systems. Barbara Hecker

When I’m not working, teaching or taking classes, I coach and judge for the USAC-RSROA (United States Association of Coaches – Roller Skating Regional Olympic Association). In 1989 I won the Figure Skating, Roller Skating National Championships held in N.C. The type of skating I teach and judge is called artistic skating, similar to what the Ice Skaters do, although I do play a little roller hockey for fun. I also snow board in the winter and play golf in the summer.

Most people describe me as an entrepreneur with a passion for teaching. I’ve been a Department Chair, Chief Academic Officer, VP of Academic Affairs and professor of Computer Science and Software Engineering (online and face to face) at various state and private colleges for over 20 years. I’ve also founded several successful Silicon Valley start-up companies. I hold a JD in Law and a PhD in Computer Science.

Outside of Academia, my interests and hobbies are in programming and software development. One of my first positions was at ParcPlace-Digitalk, now ObjectShare, which was a spin off of the old Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (Xerox PARC). Xerox PARC developed one of the first Object Oriented Programming language called Smalltalk and performed numerous human computer interaction research projects and software developments that IBM, Apple, and later Microsoft incorporated into their user interface designs. 

My work at ParcPlace inspired me to become a software developer. My current focus is on Mobile App Development. Like most Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, I hope to someday develop that “killer app,” get rich and then retire. In the meantime, I enjoy learning and sharing my experiences with others.
